Position Overview:
Our client, a growing retirement advisory firm specializing in small and mid-sized plans, is seeking an Investment Content Writer & Strategist to translate complex investment ideas into clear, actionable insights for internal teams and select external audiences.
This role is ideal for an investment professional with strong writing capabilities, not a traditional marketing copywriter. The successful candidate will be embedded within the investment team, attend portfolio and strategy meetings, synthesize market commentary, and transform technical discussions into clear, structured written communication. This individual will play a strategic role in shaping investment-related messaging and education while maintaining regulatory awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend internal investment meetings and summarize key themes, portfolio positioning, and capital markets insights.
- Aggregate internal and external investment commentary into clear, structured communications.
- Develop weekly internal briefings covering economic, geopolitical, and market developments.
- Draft monthly, quarterly, and annual market updates and outlook pieces.
- Create white papers and in-depth reports analyzing investment strategies and macroeconomic trends.
- Translate complex investment concepts into accessible educational content.
- Develop content supporting advisor and client education on portfolio construction, fiduciary considerations, and plan design.
- Identify opportunities to enhance clarity and reduce confusion in investment communications.
- Partner cross-functionally with investment, sales, client service, and leadership teams.
- Assist in developing structured feedback processes related to investment communications.
- Draft executive-level talking points, speeches, and presentation materials.
- Ensure content aligns with regulatory and compliance review processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- Direct experience writing about financial markets, investment strategy, or capital markets.
- Strong understanding of asset classes (equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, etc.).
- Experience in an investment advisory, asset management, or financial services environment preferred.
- Ability to interpret market research and economic commentary.
- Experience developing white papers, market updates, or thought leadership pieces.
- Familiarity with compliance review processes for regulated financial communications.
- CFA, CAIA, CFP, or similar designation is a plus.
