Position Title: Enrolled Actuary
*Remote (Candidates within 30 miles of a company office may follow a hybrid schedule)

Position Overview:

Our client, a nationally recognized retirement services organization, is seeking an experienced Enrolled Actuary to support small-market defined benefit and cash balance plans. This role combines hands-on valuation and administration work with technical review and sign-off responsibilities.

The selected candidate will manage a portfolio of approximately 40 plans while serving as a subject matter expert in Defined Benefit, Cash Balance, and DB/DC combination plan design and compliance. This position requires strong technical expertise, reviewing and certification experience, and the ability to consult directly with clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and certify actuarial valuations and related reports.
  • Review and sign off on work prepared by other team members.
  • Manage administration and compliance for a portfolio of small-market defined benefit plans.
  • Prepare and review benefit statements, plan documents, amendments, and employee communications.
  • Review Form 5500 filings and PBGC premium forms.
  • Prepare IRS determination filings and PBGC termination submissions (Form 500 series).
  • Perform and review combined plan non-discrimination testing.
  • Support ASC 715 and ASC 960 reporting requirements.
  • Research Internal Revenue Code provisions and resolve technical client issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to staff.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Defined Benefit, Cash Balance, and combo plan design.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and data security standards.
  • Provide cross-team support as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Enrolled Actuary designation required.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in pension/retirement plan actuarial services.
  • Experience working in a TPA or retirement plan consulting environment.
  • Strong experience with Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plan design.
  • Experience with combined DB/DC testing and compliance review.
  • Reviewing and sign-off experience required.
  • Relationship management experience preferred.
  • Experience with ProAdmin system preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of pension law and IRS regulations.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial valuations and related reporting.
  • Proficiency with industry pension valuation software.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent analytical and technical research skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with client-facing professionalism.
