Position Overview:
Our client, a growing retirement plan administration firm, is seeking an experienced Plan Consultant to manage full A–Z retirement plan administration and serve as the primary contact for plan sponsors, trustees, and financial advisors.
This role requires strong technical ERISA knowledge, hands-on FT William experience across all aspects of administration (testing, Form 5500s, document work), and the ability to step into an active book of business with minimal ramp-up time.
The ideal candidate will bring 5–7 years of TPA experience and strong client-facing communication skills. Experience with 3(16) fiduciary services is highly preferred, as this organization is expanding its fiduciary service model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a full book of retirement plan clients (A–Z administration).
- Serve as the primary contact for plan sponsors, trustees, and financial advisors.
- Perform compliance testing and oversee ERISA regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review Form 5500s and related filings.
- Maintain and update plan documents and specifications using FT William.
- Reconcile plan data, prepare benefit statements, and oversee accounting services.
- Mentor and support assigned plan administrators.
- Review distributions and loan processing for completeness and compliance.
- Ensure timely responses to client communications (email, phone, portal).
- Draft invoices and assist with billing processes.
- Maintain knowledge of evolving retirement plan regulations.
- Support the development and implementation of 3(16) fiduciary services, including:
- Participant eligibility monitoring
- Distribution eligibility oversight
- Form 5500 signature responsibility
- Coordination with outside vendors
- Process and workflow development
- Assist in building scalable administrative procedures and systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5–7 years of retirement plan administration experience in a TPA environment.
- Full A–Z administration experience required.
- FT William experience required (testing, 5500s, documents).
- 3(16) fiduciary experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of ERISA-qualified retirement plans.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing work of junior administrators preferred.
- QKA or QKC designation highly desired but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; strong communication skills prioritized.
