Position Overview:
Our client, a technology-enabled retirement plan administration firm, is seeking an experienced 401(k) Plan Administrator to support onboarding, annual administration, and compliance services. This is a growth-oriented opportunity within a modern, process-driven environment focused on improving client experience through innovation and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings strong A–Z defined contribution plan experience, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to think strategically about process improvement. This role is well-suited for someone who is curious, adaptable, and excited to contribute to a fast-evolving organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support plan onboarding, annual administration, and 3(16) monitoring services.
- Manage plan document preparation, amendments, and disclosures.
- Coordinate onboarding with recordkeeper partners and external stakeholders.
- Perform required non-discrimination testing (ADP/ACP, etc.).
- Review census and payroll data for eligibility and contribution calculations.
- Prepare Form 5500, Form 8955-SSA, Form 5330, and related compliance filings.
- Review and approve participant distributions, loans, and rollover requests.
- Analyze and reconcile plan assets and deposits.
- Assist with plan corrections under IRS and DOL correction programs.
- Prepare quarterly review materials for advisor partners.
- Utilize Excel to build and refine reusable compliance and reconciliation workbooks.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve documentation.
- Provide sales and proposal support as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5–7 years of experience in 401(k) plan administration.
- Strong A–Z defined contribution plan experience preferred.
- Experience with plan conversions and takeovers highly desirable.
- Experience with plan corrections a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills, including building complex formulas and analytical workbooks.
- Experience with FTW highly preferred.
- ASPPA QKA/QKC credentials or progress toward obtaining preferred.
- Strong project management or business acumen.
- No degree required.
