Plan Administrator
Position Title: Plan Administrator
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Plan Administrator to support the administration of qualified retirement plans. This role will focus on managing A–Z retirement plan administration activities while ensuring compliance with plan provisions and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in retirement plan administration and will be comfortable working with compliance testing, plan documentation, and client communication. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with strong support from internal teams handling accounting, document preparation, and filings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform compliance administration including reviewing and testing client data received for retirement plan administration.
- Analyze retirement plan data using accounting principles and spreadsheet analysis to ensure proper plan administration.
- Utilize pension administration software systems including Datair and internal databases.
- Communicate with clients and brokers as needed regarding plan administration matters.
- Review and analyze census data provided by internal staff and ensure accuracy for plan administration processing.
- Review accounting data prepared by internal accounting staff for retirement plans.
- Complete and review retirement plan calculations using administration systems such as CalcAir (formerly DATAIR).
- Calculate retirement plan distributions and coordinate with distribution teams for processing.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of information to internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with plan document provisions and retirement plan regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing A–Z retirement plan administration.
- Experience working with defined contribution plans including 401(k), Safe Harbor, Profit Sharing, and Cross-Tested plans.
- Defined benefit plan experience considered a strong plus.
- Experience performing compliance testing and preparing or reviewing Form 5500 filings.
- Experience working with Datair or similar retirement plan administration systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of retirement plan document provisions and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with financial and census data.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills.
- Ability to learn new systems and retirement plan regulations quickly.
- Desire for continued professional development and growth within the retirement plan administration field.
