Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Retirement Client Consultant to serve as a primary point of contact for retirement plan clients while providing consulting support on plan design, compliance, and administration matters. This role works closely with plan sponsors, advisors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality retirement plan services and ensure client satisfaction.
The position focuses on retirement plan consulting, plan document drafting, and client relationship management. The Retirement Client Consultant helps clients evaluate retirement plan structures, supports compliance requirements, and collaborates with internal teams to deliver accurate and timely service. The ideal candidate will have strong retirement plan knowledge, plan design experience, and the ability to effectively manage client relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with plan sponsors to help design retirement plans that support successful retirement outcomes.
- Provide plan design recommendations and assist with drafting plan documents, amendments, and restatements.
- Participate in consultative plan design discussions with plan sponsors and advisors during the implementation process.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners regarding retirement plan compliance matters, annual testing, and audit support.
- Assist with vendor relationship management activities related to retirement plan administration.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements through ongoing professional development and industry engagement.
- Work directly with clients to identify and achieve retirement plan goals and objectives.
- Provide proactive client support through phone calls, emails, and communication campaigns to resolve plan issues and facilitate plan document updates.
- Collaborate with team members to improve operational procedures and client service processes.
- Support workflow improvement initiatives and assist with updates to operational processes and internal policies.
- Ensure client requirements are clearly understood and coordinate with internal teams to deliver appropriate solutions.
- Advise clients regarding regulatory and administrative issues while coordinating with the administration team to implement solutions.
- Assist in identifying potential opportunities for new services or expanded relationships with existing clients.
- Analyze client accounts for potential revenue opportunities and referral possibilities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the retirement plan industry.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with defined contribution plan administration and retirement plan operations.
- Strong knowledge of retirement plan design concepts and regulatory requirements.
- Experience interpreting, drafting, and applying retirement plan documents.
- Excellent communication and client service skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately with financial and regulatory information.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- ASPPA credentials such as RPF, QKA, or QPA preferred.
- Additional consulting or advisory credentials from ASPPA, fi360, or other related organizations considered a plus.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work effectively in a paperless, technology-driven work environment.
