Position Title: Regional Vice President – 401(k) Plan Sales

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a Regional Vice President to drive retirement plan sales growth throughout the Chicago territory. This role focuses on building relationships with financial professionals, TPAs, RIAs, and DCIO firms while promoting retirement plan products and solutions.

The Regional Vice President will serve as a consultative sales leader responsible for identifying opportunities, supporting financial professionals during the prospecting process, and presenting retirement plan solutions that meet the needs of employers and advisors. The role combines deep retirement plan knowledge with strong relationship-building skills and requires the ability to navigate complex plan design and fiduciary conversations with industry professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial professionals, RIAs, TPAs, and DCIO firms to grow retirement plan sales within the assigned territory.
  • Promote retirement plan recordkeeping solutions, pooled plans, fiduciary services, and related investment platforms.
  • Provide consultative support to financial professionals during the prospecting process and assist in identifying appropriate retirement plan solutions.
  • Participate in sales meetings, finalist presentations, and client discussions as requested by advisors and partners.
  • Conduct regular meetings with financial professionals throughout the territory to build relationships and identify business opportunities.
  • Maintain a strategic list of key financial professional relationships to support territory growth and coverage.
  • Coordinate sales efforts with internal sales teams and internal sales coordinators to maximize territory effectiveness.
  • Assist advisors in evaluating retirement plan structures, plan design features, and fiduciary solutions.
  • Provide insights regarding industry trends, regulatory developments, and retirement plan best practices.
  • Educate advisors on fiduciary solutions such as 3(21) services and investment product cost structures.
  • Communicate product advantages and competitive positioning while maintaining a consultative sales approach.
  • Support retention efforts for existing retirement plan clients and advisor relationships when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of meetings and sales activity within the CRM system.
  • Complete management reporting, expense reports, and other operational responsibilities as required.
  • Protect confidential client information and adhere to company policies regarding data security and compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7–10 years of experience in the retirement plan industry or 3–5 years in a retirement plan wholesaling role.
  • Proven success selling defined contribution recordkeeping or retirement plan administration services.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA regulations and retirement plan design principles.
  • Ability to consult with financial professionals regarding retirement plan structures and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of retirement plan investment structures, share classes, and plan cost considerations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage a high level of travel and territory coverage.
  • Series 6 and Series 63 licenses or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
