Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a Regional Sales Director to drive new retirement plan business within an assigned territory by building strong referral relationships with financial advisors, employers, and strategic partners. This role is responsible for developing and executing a regional sales strategy that promotes retirement plan solutions and drives revenue growth.

The Regional Sales Director will manage the entire sales lifecycle, from prospecting and relationship development to closing new retirement plan opportunities. The ideal candidate brings a consultative sales approach, strong retirement plan knowledge, and the ability to articulate plan design strategies while building long-term partnerships within the advisor community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong referral relationships with financial advisors, employers, and strategic partners within the assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to grow retirement plan business in the region.
  • Conduct in-person meetings and events to strengthen relationships and increase brand visibility within the territory.
  • Consult with advisors and employers to understand retirement plan needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in retirement plan design, ERISA regulations, and operational considerations during sales discussions.
  • Partner with internal sales specialists to support pipeline management, presentations, proposals, and onboarding documentation.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives including local events, regional presentations, and virtual educational sessions.
  • Meet or exceed annual sales targets for new retirement plan revenue.
  • Track and manage sales pipeline activity and maintain accurate reporting of sales performance.
  • Drive new client acquisition with a target of approximately 80–100 plans per year.
  • Maintain strong follow-up and relationship management to support long-term advisor and client partnerships.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in retirement plan sales, or at least 3 years of business-to-business sales experience.
  • Proven track record of sales success and revenue growth.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Industry credentials such as QPFC, QKA, or similar designation preferred or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA regulations and retirement plan design strategies.
  • Understanding of the relationships between TPAs, recordkeepers, financial advisors, and investment providers.
  • Ability to build and manage a territory business plan and develop a strong pipeline of opportunities.
  • Strong consultative sales skills with the ability to identify client needs and present tailored solutions.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of independence, resilience, and accountability.
