Position: Consulting Actuary

Job Description:
Our client, a leading retirement plan consulting and actuarial firm with a strong presence in Connecticut and Florida, is dedicated to delivering tailored retirement solutions that align with each client's unique circumstances and future aspirations. They are currently seeking a skilled Actuarial Consultant to join our Stamford, CT office or work in a remote/hybrid capacity, as they continue to expand our client base. The ideal candidate will thrive in both collaborative and independent work environments, contributing to our commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and review the annual valuation process for various pension plans (qualified and non-qualified, traditional, asset-based cash balance, and variable annuity plans).
  • Prepare benefit statements and manage 5500 and PBGC filings.
  • Conduct non-discrimination testing and handle relevant accounting projects.
  • Develop innovative plan design options for prospective clients.
  • Delegate tasks and review the work of actuarial analysts and associates.
  • Potentially act as a career advisor or supervisor for junior staff.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, if applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients regarding retirement plans.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality client service.
  • Analyze and interpret actuarial data to inform decision-making.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in legislation affecting retirement plans.

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • 7-14 years of Defined Benefit experience as an Enrolled Actuary (EA required along with ASA or FSA).
  • Very Presentable – strong experience and skill at building loyal relationships with clients, and manage those relationships with professionalism and personality.

Skills Desired:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of experience in pension actuarial work
  • Candidate must be an Enrolled Actuary (EA) and at least an Associate to the Society of
  • Actuaries (ASA)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Very strong skills with Microsoft Excel (and other MS Office software)
  • Visual Basic or other computer language programming ability desired
  • experience with FT William government forms software a plus
